Holding On Or Letting Go

Are you familiar with "The man who can't be moved"? It is a story, told through a song, of a man who is waiting for a girl, maybe his ex-lover on a corner of a street where they first met. The man who is so determined to wait that he is willing to stay for years, even if other people mistakenly identify him as a beggar; even if a policeman asked him to go or even some reporters showed him on a television channel.

But you knew, that inside of those lyrics, the man is not literally standing on the street corner. We see him as a man not wanting to move on, still hoping that the girl of his life would come back, would still want him to be a part her life and would still love him the way where they left.

Sometimes, we cannot avoid being teary eyed while listening to this song. We shed tears not because we are weak, but because we knew that once in our lives, we had that moment of pain, of moving on in a love that once got away. It opens the wounds of yesterday and the idea that our hearts need more time to accept what our mind already knows.

I hate waiting. But if waiting means being able to be with you,

I'll stay here. I'll wait for you.

And I will always hope, that one day,

We will be together to share that forever - Isabel

And yes, I have learned a lesson or two about moving on and letting go. That we must not forget that we always have two options. To focus on what's tearing us apart or what's holding us together while holding on to that something. Either we fight to hold on or we fight to let go. It will never be easy. It will never will. Because at the back of our mind, what's holding us back is the thought that someone is holding us back. Understand? No? Okay, let's make it simple then. There will always those times that we have to let go to see if there is anything worth holding to. And sometimes all we need is a hand to hold and a heart to understand. Make a mantra, whisper it every time there's a feeling of needing it. Everything is going to be okay, after all, All is well, according to one of the three idiots :)

Sometimes, we can't let go of what's making us sad.

Because, we thought, it was the only thing that made us happy.
